Recommended movie genre : Romance



The movie genre I recommend is romance. Romance movies are a genre with the themes of romance and love. The main content is romance, but it may also be created in combination with genres such as history and comedy. Examples of  sub-genres include historical romance, romantic drama, romantic comedy, chick flick and paranormal romance.

Next, I will introduce examples of both Japanese romance movies and Western romance movies. Japanese romance movies include  “The 8-Year Engagement (Hachi nen goshi no hanayome),”  “Fortuna's Eye (Forutuna no hitomi),” “No Longer Heroine (Hiroin shikkaku),” “Evergreen Love (Shokubutsu zukan Unmei no koi, hiroimashita).” Examples of Western romance movies include “La La Land,” “Blue Valentine,” “Me Before You,” “A Case of You,” and “Un homme a la hauteur.” From the above examples, I will introduce one Japanese romance movie and one Western romance movie in detail.



First, I would like to introduce a Japanese romance movie. “No Longer Heroine” “Hiroinshikkaku” is recommended. It’s a comedy romance movie that sways between her childhood friend and the coolest boy at school. The movie was released in 2015. It was based on an original comic by Koda Momoko. This is a movie directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa, written by Erika Yoshida. The main casts are Mirei Kiritani, Kento Yamazaki and Kentaro Sakaguchi. Kana Nishino’s “Torisetsu” was chosen as the theme song and became famous.



Second, I would like to introduce a Western romance drama movie. “Me Before You” is popular. This movie is a love story of Jojo Moyes’s romance novel, which has become a best seller in the world. The movie was released in 2016. The movie director is Thea Sharrock. The main cast members are Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. There is also a Japanese dubbed version, so I recommend it.


Finally, I will explain why I like romance movies. I like romance movies because I can enjoy a lot of emotions, such as exciting things, moving things and funny things. To be honest, I don’t have much experience in love, and I think it’s fun to watch because I can't experience it in reality. Another reason is that Japanese romance movies are easy to get close to because many comics and novels are live-action. And such movies can be even more interesting because they employ popular actors. I usually watch a lot of Japanese romance movies and dramas, but recently I’ve started to be interested in Korean romance dramas. The punch lines and characteristics of the content differ by country, so I will continue to watch various romance movies and dramas.

  “Marigold in 4 Minutes (Yonfunkan no Marigoludo)” was broadcast in Japan and is in the genre of romance. This Japanese TV drama was written by Kirie. The original of this drama is “Yonfunkan no Marigoludo” by Kirie. It was broadcast on television from October 11 to December 13, 2019. It was broadcast on TBS TV in Japan. The story was up to the 10th episode.
